At "Centrale", refined French cuisine meets extraordinary architecture. RESTAURANT-BAR. Start your evening in one of the best French restaurants in town with dinner (wonderfully concocted by the French chef) in a remarquable setting. Then take the elevator pod to the bar for drinks and for an intimate view of old Beirut through the retractable roof. MUSIC. The music, never overpowering, sets the mood starting the evening with jazz and rhythm & blues, then as the bar fills up, turns into a more energetic electrolounge mix that will carry you through the night. ARCHITECTURE. First built in 1920 and literally re-built in 2001, the bulding sheltering Centrale is a recent, very singular example of rehabilitation. The metallic net that surrounds the building, the retractable roof, the bar fitted in a space similar to a pipe-line, are one of the many surprises held in store by Centrale. 2008 SUMMER MENU. Centrale is one the few restaurants in Beirut that changes its menu twice a year. Here is a selection from this season’s new menu: Salade de homards, gingembre et coriandre • Tarte fine de tomates et parmesan Rougets grillés, huile d'olive et citron vert • Côte de boeuf (for 2 people) Feuillantine au chocolat et noisettes • Coupe de fruits rouges et glace vanille • Barre glacée pistache et fraise
